Vacancy: Forester, Midlands/North West
Woodland Managers Limited is a long-established forest company managing commercial forests for a wide range of woodland owners, from large portfolios to individual farm forest holdings. Our continued success has depended on our integrity, on the quality of our services and on providing accountability and value for money. We offer independent services and guidance to woodland owners with no commercial obligations to businesses “outside the gate”. We place considerable emphasis on effective systems to deliver results.


We have an opportunity for a Forester to be based initially in the Midlands / North West; the job will require support to operations in other parts of the country occasionally and may lead to opportunities in other areas. This may suit a graduate of recent years looking to broaden their experience and work within a demanding and rewarding environment.


The Job:
To support our delivery of management and establishment services by ensuring timely compliance with our customers’ objectives, the legal and regulatory framework, and best forest practice.
Responsibilities will include:
• Site inspections and reports;
• Planning and supervision of harvesting, reforestation and maintenance operations;
• Dealing with land management issues;
• Mapping and assessment;
• Licence and grant applications.

 

Essential:
Forestry qualification and (eligibility for) SIF membership.
Full driving licence and own mode of transport
Motivated and organised self-starter; flexibility in working arrangements.
Good communication skills – oral and written;
Good analytical / numeracy skills; commitment to deadlines.
High proficiency in Microsoft Office products, mapping software and relevant IT systems.
Ability to work on own initiative

 

Desirable:
• A knowledge of Forest Service licences and schemes (especially Afforestation, Roads and Woodland Improvement).
• Experience of contracting, inventory 

 

Remuneration:
Salary commensurate with experience, plus phone and laptop, protective clothing and safety equipment and travel expenses.
We encourage participation in CPD events.
